The Open Payments development contest is open to anyone, from anywhere, who wishes to submit an entry.
The prize money is $25,000, U.S. This contest marks the first of what will be an annual event of our Open Payments sponsored contests. In addition, we hope to be able to offer more contests than this annual event.

And this is not just a contest for developers. Ideas come from many different professions.

So, what kinds of developments are we looking for and what are you eligible to submit? Acceptable developments can be any type of:
- Software application
- Module or plug-in
- Web app
- Phone app
- Software integration
- Third-party integration to a payments related service.

We look forward to awarding not only the up-front prize money, but also providing an opportunity for developers to share in residual income and network in future possibilities with all who participate.
The breakdown for the prize money is:
- First place: $15,000.00
- Second place: $7,000.00
- Third place: $3,000.00
More importantly, you will have a better opportunity to win than you think! Even submissions that don't win up-front prize money can be offered opportunities for shared marketing of their application and residual compensation.

Before you put all your hard work into developing your code, we are going to eliminate the vast majority of entries simply based on the entrant ideas. In short, our contest time-line and registration/entrant process will eliminate entrants based upon ideas and some qualifications. The finalists, perhaps before having to develop any code at all, will know their chance of winning is greater than 25%.

Not to worry. We will walk you through the various details, explain how things work and maintain an on-going private dialog with you.
